Haishan Jang, Ph. D., MBA
Chief Executive Officer
Haishan has over 27 years of extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at Centocor, DuPont, and Sanofi.She directed the scientific system, process and project management in biologic Clinical Pharmacology at Centocor, with responsibilities ranging across process integration/optimization for non-clinical, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, immune response, and clinical research activities. Haishan has made contributions to the development of a few brand-name drugs such as Uroxatral®, Tirazon®, Remicade®, Simponi® and Stelara®. Prior to the formation of BRIM Biotechnology, Inc., Haishan held positions of President at TWI Biotechnology and COO of the Supra Incubation and Integration Center (Si2C), a Taiwan government sponsored incubation center
Mei-Hui Kuo, M.S.
Chief Operating Officer
Mei-Hui has over 27 years of operational experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical space in a variety of roles. Her most recent role was as VP of Operations at the Development Center for Biotechnology, and she has also served in other positions such as Director of New Product Development at TTY Biopharm, Senior VP and Board Member at CDIB Bioscience Venture Management, and Assistant VP in the Life Science Investment Unit of Overseas Business Department at China Development Industrial Bank.
Uma Prabhakar, Ph. D
Chief Scientific Officer
Uma has 27 years of industrial experience in both discovery research and clinical pharmacology. Her expertise includes pharmacodynamics, immune function and immune response across preclinical GLP and clinical Phase I-IV trials. Uma has made contributions to the immunogenicity characterization of brand-name drugs such as Remicade®, Simponi®, Stelara®, and the preclinical aspects of the anti-asthma drug, Airiflo®. Currently, she is a consultant working at the National Cancer Institute and has worked previously at Frontage Laboratories, Centocor, and SmithKline Beecham.
Our Senior Scientific Team
Robert R. Ruffolo
Dr. Ruffolo is the retired President of Research and Development, and retired Corporate Senior Vice President, of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (now Pfizer). In that role, he managed an R&D organization of over 9,000 scientists globally, with an annual budget in excess of $4 billion. Prior to joining Wyeth, Dr. Ruffolo spent 17 years at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (now GlaxoSmithKline) where he was Senior Vice President and Director of Research, Worldwide. Before joining SmithKline Beecham, Dr. Ruffolo spent 6 years at Lilly Research Laboratories where he was Chairman of the Cardiovascular Research Committee. During his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr. Ruffolo played a significant role in the discovery of a number of marketed products, including Coreg (carvedilol; also known as Kredex and Dilatrend) for the treatment of congestive heart failure, Requip (ropinerole) for Parkinson's Disease, Dobutrex (dobutamine) for the management of acute congestive heart failure and Teveten (eprosartan) for hypertension.
Frank Lee, Ph. D.
Frank has a total of more than 38 years of industrial experience associated with drug discovery/preclinical /clinical developments. He has made contributions to the development of brand-name drugs such as Naprosyn®, Anaprox®, Ticlid®, Torado®, Avodart®, Flonase®, Imitrex®, Zofran®, Sustiva® and Velcade®. He retired from Takeda as VP of DMPK, spent time at Millennium and DuPont, and also serves as the Chairman of BRIM Cayman.
Carl Alden, DVM, DACVP
Carl has more than 35 years of pharmaceutical industry toxicology/pathology experience at companies such as Millennium, Searle/Monsanto/Pharmacia, and Procter & Gamble. Carl is a past Editor of Veterinary Pathology (2008-2014) and Toxicologic Pathology (1996-1999) and past President, Society of Toxicologic Pathologists (1990-1991). He was elected as a Distinguished Member of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2011 and presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Society of Toxicologic Pathology in 2013. He has played a central role in the development of many drugs such as Celebrex, Velcade and Entyvio (vedolizumab).
Conrad Tou, Ph. D
Conrad has over 30 years of work experience in biotech and major pharmaceutical companies such as Sanofi-Synthelabo and AstraZeneca with expertise in statistics and data management.
Wen Chyi Shyu, Ph.D
Wen Chyi has extensive background and experience in pharmaceutical research as a scientist, manager and leader. She has a total of more than 30 years of industrial experience in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic aspects of drug discovery, development and life cycle management. She has made contributions to the development of brand-name drugs such as cefprozil, cefepime, transnasal butorphanol, videx, bvaraU, irbesartan, irbesartan/HTCZ, pravastatin, dasatinib, ixabepilone, muraglitazar, abatacept, saxagliptin, dapagloflozin, Brentuximab vedotin and vedolizumab. She was also responsible for more than 100 IND submissions. She is currently the VP of Global Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics in Takeda. Before joined Takeda in 2010, Wen Chyi has worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb for 24 years.
